After graduating in 2011, Fleur began exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions, initially creating animal works on recycled wood panels that reflected her early connection to nature and her concern for the environment.
From 2018 to 2025, Fleur stepped away from exhibiting to focus on her business.
Returning to her creative practice, she has recentered her attention on the foundations of art making itself. The initial idea, the simplicity of raw materials, and the physical act of creating.
Fleur is deeply interested in the process of making as much as the final outcome. Her paintings evolve through outlines of pencil, watercolour washes, line and mark-making, with earlier decisions often left visible rather than concealed. Some works are carefully resolved, while others are intentionally left open, allowing traces of the process to remain. She embraces imperfection, movement and the honesty of making, seeing the marks left behind as an integral part of the work.
Animals, nature and human observation have always been central to Fleur’s practice and continue to shape her evolving visual narrative. Her paintings explore the character, presence and sentience of animals, always seeking the individuality within each one. She is drawn to the moments that reveal an animal as a being with its own personality, awareness and story, inviting the viewer to look beyond the familiar and really see the animal in front of them.
Animals are often the starting point, but the environment and our relationship with it are never far away. Fleur’s work reflects both her appreciation for the beauty and resilience of the natural world and her concern for the ways in which human intervention shapes the lives of animals and the places they inhabit.
